DAY 1: Fez – Ifrane – Ziz Valley – Erfoud – Desert – Dromedary ride – Overnight stay in jaima (Berber tents)
After breakfast, we will head to the Merzouga desert by crossing the Middle Atlas and its cedar forest. This mountain range extends 350 kilometers from the southwest to the northwest of Morocco. We will visit Ifrane, known as Morocco’s “Little Switzerland” because of its houses’ architecture and for being one of the most exclusive ski destinations in the country. We will cross the Ziz Valley and the Ziz Gorges and pass through Erfoud. From there, we will take a desert road until we reach Merzouga. We will then set off in a caravan of dromedaries for a one-hour ride to a camp in the heart of the desert. We will make a halfway stop to see the sunset over the dunes and stretch our legs before heading to the camp. Once there, we will have some tea and rest a little before dinner. At night, we will enjoy traditional Berber drums, singing, and dancing and may climb the dunes nearby to make wishes upon shooting stars. Overnight stay in the jaimas (Berber tents).
DAY 2: Merzouga – Aoufous – Midelt – Azrou – Fez
Wake up before dawn to watch the sunrise from the dunes. After breakfast, we will ride back on the dromedaries and take our car. Our trip will now head north through the palm grove of Tafilalet until we reach the Ziz Valley, where we will stop to enjoy the panoramic views and the town of Aoufous. Our next stop is Midelt to rest and eat. In the afternoon, we will continue to Azrou, where we will hand feed the monkeys. Arrival at your hotel or riad in Fez.
